Innovating through talent

A few days ago, I addressed the redefined 2020 strategies that leaders are adopting today with a focus on innovation and talent, paving the way for transformation. In today’s article, I will touch upon the relevance of innovation in the current business environment and how it helps generate a competitive advantage for a firm.

After a situation as complex and unprecedented as the one we have been experiencing in recent months, leaders should start betting on the right conditions that can elevate innovation to a stable-enough standing and help recover the confidence of their workers. What does that mean? As an organization, one must feel confident about the products and services they manufacture and serve. One needs to have a sense of pride in their team and their company and move ahead, innovating with a purpose in mind.

How do we do that? How do we get our people, our employees hooked so they are ready to face the market once again?

By being aware of the industry trends and the new technologies that have the potential to impact your business as well as your major competitors—large and small. Keeping an eye out on the latest innovations allows you to gauge the differentiating element, the USP, that could elevate your standing. It enables you to make that qualitative leap with ideas and creativity emerging from within your talent pool.

Once these ideas start cropping up, you should begin working on a framework. Designing a process or a system around these creative new proposals enables you to innovate efficiently with contained risk and prudential costs attached to the workgroups functioning under diverse methodologies. It doesn’t matter if it is Agile, Kanban, Scrum, or Scrumban. The important thing is that all diverse groups of people in your company will begin working with a high degree of motivation committed to searching for that unique, innovative method that could help you win.

That is precisely why it is so important to attract talent from diverse, new backgrounds. Each one offers a different perspective and can question the traditional business models by asking the right questions. A curious, diverse, and inclusive approach to talent helps veto the famous “it’s always been done this way” with its resistance to changing the established status quo.

The analysis of the talent itself and how to integrate it into your organization is a topic for reflection and discussion which we must address the next time we meet!

Until then, stay strong as we begin to sail through the second wave of the pandemic together.
