Tim Thomson-Essex is an executive search partner with over 15 years of experience advising private equity investors and global industrial businesses on critical leadership appointments that drive value creation.
Tim began his career in the UK, supporting multinational Oil & Gas clients, and has since built a strong track record delivering senior leadership appointments across complex, global organizations.

Based in North America for the past nine years, he brings a genuinely international perspective, combining deep sector expertise with a highly developed network of passive talent to execute critical, high-impact searches for his clients. He conducts searches across the US and Canada.

Tim has a strong track record supporting private equity backed companies through the full investment lifecycle, including pre-deal diligence, leadership assessment, build-out of management teams, and CEO/functional leadership succession.

He specializes in building high-impact leadership teams across industrial, manufacturing, and energy markets, with a particular focus on transformation, operational excellence, and end-to-end supply chain and commercial performance.

Prior to joining Kingsley Gate, Tim led the Global Industrials Practice at Proco Group, where he specialized in end-to-end supply chain and commercial leadership mandates within a boutique search environment.

Prior to commencing his search career, he served as an officer in the British Army and played semi-professional level rugby. He holds a Master’s degree from Loughborough University and is now an accomplished Marathon runner.
