Even as the industry rises on the back of market appreciation, many firms continue to struggle as the competitive landscape shifts below their collective feet. The cumulative effect has been a slowdown in hiring and a more urgent need to manage compensation expectations. Paige Scott, senior partner at Kingsley Gate Partners, along with Steve Unzicker from the Institutional Investor Institute, conducted one-on-one interviews with a number of survey participants to allow us to understand the current environment and its impact on recruiting efforts and compensation plans.
