Vafa Jamali Becomes Chief Executive Officer of Zimmer Biomet Spin Off, NewCo

Zimmer Biomet Holdings has named Vafa Jamali Chief Executive Officer of its spin off transaction, NewCo. The transaction will close in mid-2022, consisting of both the company’s Spine and Dental units. Vafa joins from Rockley Photonics, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer. He previously spent nearly six years with Medtronic, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President and President of the Respiratory, Gastrointestinal & Informatics group. Prior to that, he was a Vice President and General Manager for Covidien. He has also held several leadership roles with Cardinal Health and Allegiance Healthcare. Early in his career, he held functional roles with both Searle and Baxter.
