UnitedHealth Group Announces Executive Appointments
UnitedHealth Group has announced the following executive changes:
- Sir Andrew P. Witty has been named Chief Executive Officer and Director, in addition to his current role as Chief Executive Officer of Optum. He previously served as Executive Vice President of UnitedHealth Group as well. Prior to that, Andrew spent over three decades with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where he ultimately led as Chief Executive Officer and Director. He succeeds David S. Wichmann, who recently retired from his roles as CEO and Director but will remain with the company in a transition role until March 31, 2021.
- Dirk C. McMahon has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer. He has served in several senior leadership roles with the company throughout his tenure, including leading UnitedHealthcare as Chief Executive Officer and Optum as President and Chief Operating Officer.
UnitedHealth Group is a for-profit managed health care company based in Minnetonka, MI. It offers health care products and insurance services. The company currently employs about 325,000 individuals, and generated $242.2 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2019.
