Matthew W. Friedrich to Join UnitedHealth as Chief Legal Officer
UnitedHealth Group will welcome Matthew W. Friedrich as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer on January 11, 2021. Matthew is currently with Cognizant Technology Solutions as General Counsel, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Secretary. Prior to that, he was Chevron’s Chief Corporate Counsel. He also served as a Partner with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Boies, Schiller & Flexner, respectively. He also spent time serving the U.S. Department of Justice, ultimately holding the position of Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Matthew succeeds Marianne D. Short, who announced she will be retiring as Chief Legal Officer.
