
René Buehlmann Named Chief Executive Officer of APAC for Aberdeen Standard Investments
Aberdeen Standard Investments has hired René Buehlmann as Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific, commencing on March 1, 2021. He will become an executive leadership team member, reporting to Stephen Bird, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Life Aberdeen. René is a seasoned veteran in the financial industry, bringing strong experience across wealth and asset management, corporate banking and financial services. He joins from a nearly three-decade career with UBS, where he ultimately served as Head of Asset Management for APAC and Global Head of Wholesale Client Coverage. Prior to UBS, he began his career with Union Bank of Switzerland. René succeeds Hugh Young, who will transition to Chairman of Asia.
