Cynthia L. Egan to Become Chair of The Hanover Insurance Group
The Hanover Insurance Group has accelerated Cynthia L. Egan’s appointment as Chair of the Board of Directors. Cynthia was elected Vice Chair of the Board in February 2020, but was slated to become Chair in May 2021 after P. Kevin Condron’s mandatory retirement based on age. However, the company has put a new plan in place, allowing Cynthia to assume her new role as Chair on December 1, 2020. The accelerated succession plan will allow for a smoother transition as Cynthia’s election will overlap with Kevin’s final months in the role. Cynthia previously served as President of Retirement Plan Services with T. Rowe Price. She also held several notable senior leadership roles with Fidelity Investments, including Head of Fidelity’s Institutional Services Company, President of the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, and Executive Vice President of Fidelity Management Research Co. In addition to serving on Hanover’s Board, Cynthia holds directorship positions on the Boards of UNUM Corporation, Huntsman Corporation, and the BlackRock Fixed Income Funds Complex. She is also Chair of the Board of Visitors for the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
