The Gap Announces Executive Changes

The Gap, Inc. has announced the following executive appointments:

  • Asheesh Saksena will become Chief Growth Officer for The Gap, Inc. on  January 11, 2021. Asheesh joins The Gap from Best Buy, where he was most recently Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. He previously served as Best Buy’s Chief Strategic Growth Officer before being promoted to President of Best Buy Health. Prior to Best Buy, Asheesh was Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Cox Communications.
  • Sandra Stangl has been hired as Banana Republic’s President and Chief Executive Officer beginning in December 2020. She was most recently the Co-founder and Chief Merchant of MINE. Sandra was previously with Williams Sonoma, where she served in several capacities throughout her 23-year tenure. Sandra’s executive roles with Williams Sonoma included leading as President of Pottery Barn Brands, where she oversaw the launch of both Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen. She also served as President, Chief Merchandising and New Business Development Officer for Restoration Hardware.

The Gap Inc. is a leading international specialty retailer with seven brands – Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, INTERMIX, Hill City and Janie and Jack – almost 3,200 stores and more than 150,000 employees. The San Francisco, CA-based company posted net sales of $16.4 billion for fiscal year 2019.
