Ross Stores Announces Leadership Changes

Ross Stores has announced the following changes to its leadership:

  • George Orban will become Chairman of the Board after the Annual Stockholders meeting, which will be held on May 19, 2021. He is currently Managing Partner of Orban Partners, a private investment Company.
  • Barbara Rentler will become Vice Chair after the Annual Stockholders meeting, which will be held on May 19, 2021. She currently leads the company as Chief Executive Officer. She has had a long tenure with the company,  previously serving in such roles as President and Chief Merchandising Officer, Ross Dress for Less and Executive Vice President, Merchandising. 
  • Michael Hartshorn has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors. He is currently Group President and Chief Operating Officer. He has served the company for over two decades, including as Group Executive Vice President, Finance and Legal, Chief Financial Officer. He began his career serving The May Department Stores Company in functional finance roles.
  • Michael Balmuth, Chairman, and Norman Ferber, Chairman Emeritus, will not be standing for re-election to the Board. Both Michael and Norman will continue to serve the company as Senior Advisors moving forward.

Ross Stores, operating under the brand name Ross Dress for Less, is an American chain of discount department stores headquartered in Dublin, CA.  With fiscal 2019 revenues of $16.0 billion, the company had 1,546 locations in 39 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam at fiscal 2019 year-end.
